Despite the official season ending with Henley Royal back in June, summer rowing continues for those that can make it to the Boathouse, and we had a great time training for Staines in the last few weeks. Apparently even mid-July doesn’t guarantee good weather as it rained on and off all day, but even that couldn’t dampen our spirits as we took the win in a number of events!
We firstly had huge success in the mixed doubles with Shamae and Joe B winning band 1 (just beating out another UCL/Bentham crew in the final!), and Megan and Joe L winning band 2 in the last race of their novice year. Our men’s doubles both claimed second in bands 1 and 2 with hard-fought races for both.
Another win came from the Open 4+ category where a four comprising of G, Sarang, Arman, Dan, and Max, beat a Bentham crew for the victory. Several other wins followed for a number of Bentham crews in a mix of small boats, congratulations to all who took home a new glass tankard!
